Descriptive Text is a text that explains / explains people, animals and objects. Be it in form, quantity, or nature.

General Structure

Identification: Contains recognition of the place, person, animal or other object to be explained.
Description: Contains a description of something such as objects, animals, people, or places by explaining characteristics, shapes, colors, or anything related to what the author will describe.

Aim
Descriptive text aims to:

To describe a specific person, object or place.
To describe a certain person, object or place without doing detailed research, based solely on sight and hearing.


Characteristic features
The tense used is the simple present tense.
The verbs used are attribute verbs, such as be (am, is, are)
Only focus on an object to be described.
Linguistic Elements
Specific participant: has a specific object, only uses one word explanation. For example: my house / my house, Borobudur temple / Borobudur temple, Bandengan Beach / Bandengan beach, and Uncle Gilang / uncle Gilang.
The use of an adjective (adjective) / noun to describe a more specific noun. For example: a beautiful beach (a beautiful beach), a handsome man, a famous place in Jakarta (the famous place in Jakarta), etc.
The use of simple present tense: The sentence pattern used in the description text is the simple present. Because it will tell the facts of the object described.
Action verbs: verbs that indicate the existence of an activity (for example: run / run), sleep / sleep, walk, cut / cut, and others.
Figurative language: Use a figurative language / describe something. In general, it will use a metaphor to illustrate the reader. As an example:
My love for you is as big as the ocean. - My love for you is as wide as the ocean.
Her skin is as white as the snow - Her skin is as white as snow.
